Hmm the connection between Hep and letting go is super interesting. I wonder what the difference between ‘go’ and ‘let go’ are, you know? Like how do they look different in stories? And how might they look similar?

It seems that you found a message at the end of the essay, a sort of healing? Like she felt she could move on from the grief, or at least But she didn’t go far enough to really take the point home, for you. I saw that last quote as living with absence loss and grief, not necessarily as letting it go. I don’t know if there is a difference between trusting yourself and letting go, in this story specifically, what do you think?

Although you mentioned in another post that you haven’t workshopped yet, your description of what workshopping can offer and how one can feel when going into this experience is exactly – and eerily – how I feel when going into this experience. You mention the vulnerability and risk one takes in letting others in on your writing, and you really capture that emotion when you describe what you want to get out of the workshop – that missing piece or that perfect word that just makes your writing speak; that’s a very real stake when in a workshopping group. I’m also really interested in the idea of coming out as a writer, and how that term can be used to further flesh out the workshopping process.
